Co-active coaching
Co-active coaching, initiated 25 years ago by the CTI (The Co-Active Training Institute), assumes that we keep developing and learning constantly, experimenting and drawing conclusions from our experiences throughout our lives. CTI promotes a departure from the old, hierarchical paradigm of leadership, in favor of self-awareness, responsibility for oneself and conscious action and influence on the environment in relationships with others, at all hierarchical levels in the organization.
Co-Active develops leaders through getting them outside their comfort zones so new lessons can be learned. The learning happens in action – through experimenting with new behaviors. It helps experience own possibilities and observe the scale of the impact on environment that each of us can have. Later, it summarizes and integrates the lessons learnt in leader’s daily practices and their ‘toolbox”.
The creators of the CTI school are the forerunners of coaching, among the first professional coaches who co-created the ICF (see below). Many subsequent coaching approaches were inspired by the co-active model.
